Meet the Makers: The Bike Project

The Bike Project of Urbana-Champaign is an amazing community resource for bikers, and one of the most maker friendly places in town. We are incredibly excited to have them representing this year at the Mini Maker Faire.  Last year they built an amazing spirograph from old bike parts, and we’ve heard their working another such creation for attendees to get hands on with this year!

The Bike Project is a non-profit, charitable organization of bicycle users whose mission is to educate and empower the community by providing a welcoming space to learn about bicycle repair, engage in maintenance practices, and promote safe operation through outreach and advocacy activities. The Bike Project is  located in the Independent Media Center, right down the hall from Maker Space Urbana , creative collaboration between the two organizations is not only easy, but has been a lot of fun over the years.

They are also helping to support the new LIFECykle project. A North-End Community Bicykle Ko-op you can support here.

We’re looking forward to having them back to represent the amazing biking community we have right here in Urbana Champaign!
